The legacy of 1933 Lounge begins with St. Elmo Steak House, an Indianapolis institution since 1902 and a name synonymous with legendary dining. For more than a century, St. Elmo has welcomed guests from near and far with its fiery shrimp cocktail, hand-cut steaks, and heartfelt hospitality. But every great story invites a new chapter.
The year 1933 marked the end of Prohibition, when Americans once again raised their glasses in spirited celebration. Inspired by that era of resilience, elegance, and hidden lounges, 1933 Lounge was created as an extension of the St. Elmo experience, a place where tradition meets modern sophistication and where every visit becomes an experience to remember.
Our first location, tucked above St. Elmo in downtown Indianapolis, introduced guests to a speakeasy-style retreat defined by classic cocktails, refined flavors, and timeless hospitality. Soon after, 1933 Lounge expanded to Fishers and Carmel, carrying the heritage northward while adding its own flair. These locations bring the same hallmark experience to the suburbs of Indy, offering a destination for refined evenings, celebratory gatherings, and unforgettable moments.
Travelers, too, can taste this legacy at Indianapolis International Airport, where 1933 Lounge and HC Tavern by St. Elmo invite guests to savor tradition before takeoff. Whether at the airport, in Carmel, Fishers, or downtown, each location shares the same promise: a refined escape inspired by history, shaped by hospitality, and elevated for today.
1933 Lounge is also home to two enduring figures: Winston A. Fox and Theodore the rabbit. Winston, ever dapper and cunning, embodies wit and sophistication, while Theodore brings a playful spirit that keeps the evening lively.
